The GoPro Hero3 range incorporates 3 different Hero 3 models – the entry-level Hero3 White, mid-range Hero3 Silver and flagship Hero3 Black edition.

GoPro Hero3 White and Silver editions
The latest editions are two thirds of the size of its predecessor (HD Hero2), has a multifunctional USB port, a hydrophobic/hydrophilic lens (which repels water from its surface), is compatible with a LCD touch screen BacPac and has a built-in WiFi connection compatible with tablets and smartphones.

The hype around the Hero3 Black edition is justified as the model has double the resolution of the GoPro HD Hero2 at 30 frames per second and shoots 4K (about four times the resolution of High Definition) at 12 frames per second, its image processor is twice as fast. Its low light performance is doubled when compared to the previous models.

The GoPro Hero3 weighs a mere 0.072kg

The camera is also capable of shooting 120 frames per second at 720p resolution and records time-lapses at 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 30 and 60 second intervals.
