The GoPro Hero3 range incorporates 3 different Hero 3 models – the entry-level Hero3 White, mid-range Hero3 Silver and flagship Hero3 Black edition.

GoPro Hero3 White and Silver editions
The latest editions are two thirds of the size of its predecessor (HD Hero2), has a multifunctional USB port, a hydrophobic/hydrophilic lens (which repels water from its surface), is compatible with a LCD touch screen BacPac and has a built-in WiFi connection compatible with tablets and smartphones.

The hype around the Hero3 Black edition is justified as the model has double the resolution of the GoPro HD Hero2 at 30 frames per second and shoots 4K (about four times the resolution of High Definition) at 12 frames per second, its image processor is twice as fast. Its low light performance is doubled when compared to the previous models.

The GoPro Hero3 weighs a mere 0.072kg

The camera is also capable of shooting 120 frames per second at 720p resolution and records time-lapses at 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 30 and 60 second intervals.

Adidas unveils the AFCON ball

Adidas unveiled the official match ball for the 2013 Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the CAF live draw show in Durban on October 25.

The new ball was named through an online vote by football fans.  The name Katlego, which means “success” in SeSotho, was chosen above Khanya (which means light) and Motswako (mixture).

The design was inspired by Ndebele print artworks and the vibrant yellow and other bright colours that are dominant in most African national flags, says Zobuzwe Ngobese, PR manager at adidas SA.

“We are delighted to present the fourth official match ball for the most important tournament in Africa to CAF following the success of previous balls such as Wawa Aba (Ghana), Jabulani (Angola) and Comoequa (Equatorial Guinea and Gabon),” he says.
Katlego was introduced to the public and used in matches shortly after it was launched to generate excitement for the Orange AFCON 2013 and to allow the qualified teams to get used to the ball.
